Miami was our jumping off point for the trip because it was a good place to start when heading to South America.

We thought it was surprisingly a great city, or at least the small part of it we could see in three short days, which were otherwise filled with last minute purchases, and chores like transferring phone numbers and getting documents notarized. The greatness came from trading our down jackets for shorts, and drinking delicious 90-cent cafe cubanos : ) We stayed in South Beach, so the architecture added to the experience, not to mention that we had a nice safety net before South America in that we could try out our extremely limited Spanish everywhere, but (usually) had English to fall back on. That would not be the case in a few days….
